The word, zine, refers to a self-published small magazine. They are often handmade and created from one’s passion or niche interest.
My Cooking Zine started from my love of food and sharing it with the people around me. After college, I could no longer share my late-night baking and intricate dinners with friends, but I could share my recipes. Sending out a google doc would've been simple enough, but where's the fun in that?

"Baking Favorites" includes recipes for three of my favorite things to bake. These are the recipes I return to most often. If you know me personally, you’ve probably had at least one of these desserts.
The visual design is my take on a handmade, cozy version of a traditional cookbook format. The illustrations use simplified shapes, soft colors, and subtle shading to capture the warmth and comfort of home baking. The recipes are written with clear, detailed instructions, broken into multiple steps that double as visual and mental place markers while you bake.

"In Sickness & In Health" features three simple, harmonious dishes that are perfect for a sick day. Each dish can be made individually or all three can be made together with the comprehensive recipe at the end. This issue is a celebration of love and caring for the people around you in hard times.
The title is a play on the traditional marriage vow, so I wanted the visual design to draw inspiration from wedding invitations and menus. The decorative art are drawn in a continuous line to convey the connected, harmonious nature of the dishes. I wanted this issue to be look more professional with an editorial feel, so I included real, clean photos of my dishes.

"Yolks or Whites" has recipes that only use egg yolks, whites, or a forgiving combination of the two. This issue aims to reduce waste when chefs or bakers have excess yolk/whites after recipes that call for one over the other.
